Hevi LGBTI+ emerged in 2013 as an outcome of an organization which is formed by independent LGBTI+ people around the same ideals.

Hevi LGBTI+ which is founded by lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans,’ and intersexuals believes that policies must be approached within a broad political framework and treats class, ethnicity, sexism, rights of refugees and migrants, freedom of humans and nature as inseparable parts of LGBTI+ politics.

Although it was founded by mostly Kurdish LGBTI+ in time Hevi LGBTI+ initiative reached people from different ethnic backgrounds as enlarged. The initiative which develops policies as Arabic, Armenian, and Turkish people, as well as other diverse ethnical identities, became an association in 2015 and began to work as an association in their office in Beyoğlu/İstanbul.
